INAZUMA STORY LORE GENSHIN IMPACT ALL ABOUT NATION OF ETERNITY PART 1

  DISCLAIMER: 80% canon + 20% fanfic/assumption

On the islands named as Inazuma, consist of Narukami Island, Kannazuka, Yashiori Island, Seirai Island, and Tsurumi Island, there was once a war between tanuki who are native and kitsune as invader from outside. After 1600 years of fighting, finally it ends in a peace treaty between two sides where the war won by Kitsune, the Hakushin Clan.  The Tanuki refuse to admit a loss in the war, but cede the "giant Thunder Sakura" to the Kitsune. Don't know exactly when, but human begin to step inside these islands and create a living in this area. As both Kitsune and Tanuki can change shape, they decide to hide between human race who suddenly emerge and invade the islands. As foxes are clever animals, and very quickly they learn the many intricacies of human speech that were handed down over the generations, becoming able to describe the way human grew old, or how the moonlight shines over the lake in a rudimentary manner. Since foxes are free animals, They would never cover their beauty because of shame like humans do. Their beauty are captivating many human. Most of the kitsune live in Hakushin land near mt Yougou away from human civilization. Sometimes, a fox lost and got help from human. When that happened, as The foxes are grateful beings, they will fulfill a human wish to repay their debts in their own sly ways.

Human life in Inazuma was not completely safe because of the existence of evil creatures (yokai) that reside in inazuma and bring havoc. Yokai are a class of supernatural creatures in Inazuma, akin to the illuminated beasts in Liyue. Some type of yokai includes a danuki, kitsune, Oni, Kasha, Tengu, Tofu boys, Umibouzu, Black jade, Raging flame, Mujina and many others. Inazuma used to be a territory full of yokai and very dangerous to be explored. Just like in the opposite side of Narukami island, far in the west direction from narukami island, there was a place called Enkanomiya, a nation built underwater in the Dark Sea. A group of people, Sangonomiya clan, were somehow stranded in it, where they were terrorized by the Dragonheir of the Depths. The Dragonheir of the Depths likely came from the Abyss. Unable to return to the surface due to the threat of the Dragonheir of the Depths, they are barely able to survive through the meager light of the Oohirume no Omikoshi.

Back to surface, during Archon war, the twin Raiden Makoto (Baal) and Raiden Ei (Beelzebul) slay all evil creatures (youkai) in the Inazuma region. Now inazuma is safer for human to create a living, especially in Narukami island. Feeling grateful and amazed at the power that the twin possessed, people of Inazuma begin to worship her as their God, not knowing that their god is actually a twin. It was an era of various power struggles between being powerful enough to be a God that began 2000 years ago in Tevyat. Not all powerful being participated in the war have the intent of taking a divine seat. Some being wanted to defend their territory, while others didn't even want to fight and tried to save as many people as possible from the destruction of the war. Nevertheless, it ends in the establishment of a new order under the Seven Archons who successfully managed to achieve a seat from 7 divine seats available in Celestia. The seven chosen by Heavenly principle itself determined the seven elements in Teyvat. The Seven were either gods who kept their seats by prevailing over other, or were beings who ascended to godhood after defeating gods of previous generation.

The Archon War had a "last man standing" rule for each region, so Raiden Ei, although the stronger fighter, sacrifices her body so Makoto can ascend to Celestia. She believed Makoto to be better-suited for the role of Archon, just like Andrius choosing death so he would not become the Anemo Archon from mondstadt. The Sacred Sakura grows from Ei body after her death. Thus, Makoto becomes the first Electro Archon, the God of Transience.

The Sacred Sakura symbolize Raiden Ei's eternal watch over Inazuma, and they are able to purify evil by absorbing filth from the land. The Thunder Sakura are side-branches of the Sacred Sakura, so the filth accumulated in a Thunder Sakura will spread up the roots and to the central roots of the Sacred Sakura beneath Mt. Yougou. There are 5 thunder sakura in Narakumi island alone, not including another island. If too much filth accumulates, the polluted roots will be corroded and these tainted sections will form tumors and, if left unchecked, the Sacred Sakura will wither away which would be catastrophic for Inazuma. However, the roots are not capable of purifying the accumulated filth on their own, so it is necessary to routinely purify these roots in what is called the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual, which is ordinarily performed by the Grand Narukami Shrine. This major cleansing must be performed every 60 years. If Sacred sakura wither, evil creatures in Inazuma will emerge and raged unchecked and the seas around Inazuma would turn black. Inazuma might become a dangerous island for human to live again just like before. (Author Note: The shape of Sacred sakura in this era doesn't have the "fox shape like figure” yet)

A Gnosis bestowed to the seven by Celestia as proof of their status as an elemental Archon. Whether how each individual Archon uses it, it's all left freely depending on each archon's will. As electro archon, Makoto uses her gnosis to recall Ei's divine will and reforge her body. Makoto would serve as the actual ruler of Inazuma, while Ei served as her kagemusha, or body double. Most people think that there was only one god, Baal. It starts an era where Inazuma was led by twin goddess. All those who dwelt within Inazuma were content with their lot and did not seek to take what was not theirs, lest they be eradicated by the Raiden Shogun. After The Seven were established, most defeated gods fled Teyvat and took refuge in the Dark Sea - lands outside of Teyvat where The Seven have no dominion, where they became known as "evil gods." Some gods, however, chose to cooperate with The Seven and even became important figures.

Back to the dark sea where sangonomiya clan stranded in it, the divine being who always keep Sangonomiya clan safe from Dragonheir of the Depths somehow disappeared and her fate is currently unknown. Sangonomiya clan was abandoned. Fleeing into the Dark Sea, the evil god who is actually an ancient dragon-like serpent creature that had lost everything from archon war,  met the abandoned people who had nothing within the ocean depths. Taking pity on them, the giant serpent took them in as its own and defeated the Dragonheir of the Depths, suppressing it under the sea with its jade corals. It is said that when the giant serpent  decided to bring the people of the depths out of the waters, he did this at the instruction of the heavens themselves (Celestia). As he fled from his fate (death) from the archon war, committing a grave sin in the process, it is the only way Celestia will let him alive. Then, the great serpent  once broke off all the coral branches on its body to give light to the children who were curled up in the darkness. They also say that it used these coral branches to create a huge ladder to create Watatsumi Island so its people could live above the surface again. Watatsumi Island is the furthest from Narukami Island in the Inazuman island chain, and its name means "the god of the oceans", located just above the dark sea.  Orobashi guided the residents of Watatsumi Island and taught them how to farm and smelt, for which they were deeply grateful and begin to worshiped the serpent as their god, named him Orobashi no mikoto, their "Watatsumi Omikami." This is the origin of why inazuma is divided into two beliefs.

For many years, Orobashi respected the boundary between Watatsumi Island and the Narukami. Orobashi knows that he is no match against the almighty raiden ei, thus making them as enemy is a big No. Raiden Makoto and Ei also acknowledge Orobashi existence, She respect  and let the people of watatsumi island to worship another god beside the electro archon in inazuma. Both side lived in peace. A ritual involving the worship of both the Raiden Shogun and Orobashi is developed. This ritual must be performed before starting any other ritual.

One of the most important ritual in Narukami is performed to purify the accumulated filth from the roots of the Sacred Sakura. Normally this ritual is performed by the Grand Narukami Shrine every 60 years. It  is a religious organization that worships their lord raiden shogun and leads the Narukami people's faith. The use of military force is not permitted around the areas of the Grand Narukami Shrine as it dishonors the Shogun herself, thus the shrine is not under the jurisdiction of the Shogunate but still under the authority of the Archon whom the shrine worships. The shrine usually led by Hakushin bloodline. When  Kitsune Saiguu departed the first time from  the Hakushin Lands to take up her post at the Grand Narukami Shrine, Lady Yae still had yet to be born.

Little is currently known about the Kitsune Saiguu's early life. At some point, she won a race against the Chieftain of the Yougou Tengu, Reizenbou (the great Yougou Tengu). Saiguu believed the Tengu was going easy on her, but because of the defeat, the Yougou tengu then promise to protect Kitsune Saiguu ever since. Eventually, Saiguu became close ally of Raiden Ei, alongside the oni Chiyo from mikoshi clan and a tengu general, Sasayuri. With Saiguu helped for cleansing ritual, Sasayuri's great work as general, and Chiyo's strength as companionship in battle, Inazuma became a safe nation and prosper under the rule of their Archon, Makoto & Ei.
Unfortunately, it's different case for watatsumi island. The inhabitants of Watatsumi call themselves the people of the sea and worship the Great Serpent as the Orobashi no Mikoto. Just as the human heart runs deep and water flows downhill, the spirit of Watatsumi Island constantly feels the calls of Enkanomiya, down in the depths. The soil is slowly bleaching, becoming Holy Soil. People are worried that Watatsumi Island will one day become a desert as pale as the moonlight. In this world of fickle fortune, humans, puny as they are, often suffered on account of their bitter lives and were gloomy because of their pain and misfortune. The infertile land leads to years of famine and disease. In Watatsumi Island, the shrine is the seat of government, and there are no commissioners appointed by the Shogunate. All business, great and small, is conducted by the shrine maidens. The head shrine maiden, or Divine Priestess, is the head of government and ceremonial affairs.

The Great Serpent Oroboshi never forgot his past as one of the defeated, or his oath to never again allow his people to be forsaken. So he asked the shrine maiden:
"Blessed daughter of mine, why do the people of the deep sea weep? Have I not defeated the Dragonheir of the Depths and given you the light of day?"
The wise shrine maiden replied:
"Famine."
The Great Serpent asked again:
"Indeed, it is my failing that has caused you to go hungry. What then, my people, is your request?"
The honest elders replied:
"You made a road for us, guiding us to create a nation amidst the blue seas with no need for robbery, oppression, or tyranny. For this, we are already more than grateful... Yet, to the east of our coral island, there are lands wider and more fertile still."
"Permit us, great lord, to set foot upon those islands and there carve out a dominion for ourselves, that our children after us shall have a glorious past, a future in fullness, and a present without darkness."
The Great Serpent was silent and made no reply. He knows that he won't win.
The bright sun, the clear skies, and seas, the clam palace that glittered with rainbow light, the teachings of the clergy... None of these could assuage the wounds of hunger and disease. In many years that followed, the hungry and diseased people of watatsumi island would ask time and again for their god to invade a land.

During this years in NarukamiSaiguu as the head of Narukami shrine served a mentor-like role towards a shrine maiden named Asase Hibiki from Seirai island. Later, during the course of her entire role as head of Narukami, she became familiar with a certain group of mortals. Included among them were a "shrine maiden" Hibiki, an "easygoing young man" Kamuna Harunosuke, a "Kanjou" (Hiiragi Hiroshi), and a "clan who used ingenious techniques to make man-made meteors bloom in the skies" (the Naganohara Family). Mikoshi Nagamasa is adopted into the Mikoshi Clan by the oni Mikoshi Chiyo, one of Ei's closest friend. Also, There was this one man name Takamine the Mistsplitter, who was wandering around Mt. Yougou when he came across the great Yougu Tengu who guard Saiguu in Narukami shrine. Takamine made a wager with the female Yougu Tengu. He gambled his young, strong body as a bet against a bow given by the Shogun. As for the gamble itself, he could only sometimes recall it, when he was drunk. But by the time dawn came, he had three wins and three losses — his contest with the Tengu was a draw. So in the bad news, he was taken as a servant by the Tengu. But in the good news, he won that unmatched bow. Later, Takamine was given rather ridiculous nickname by the Tengu, nickname as Konbumaru.

Ultimately, Konbumaru witnessed the Tengu's real form. Soaring through the clouds unfettered, unleashing thunderbolts with every bowstring's pulse. (Author note: Kinda look like Sara's burst, when her wings appears during the skill) It was a true, unreserved dance of death. Fierce and unpredictable, elegant and beautiful. Takamine temporarily became the Tengu's servant in exchange for gaining ownership over Thundering Pulse, a bow gifted by the Raiden Shogun Baal. He followed her to the Grand Narukami Shrine where the Kitsune Saiguu, the subject of the great Tengu's protection, resided, and in there he met The Yougou ThreeAsase Hibiki, Kamuna Harunosuke, and Mikoshi Nagamasa (Chiyo's adoptive son). The motivations Harunosuke and Nagamasa had for seeking the Yougou Tengu's teachings are unknown, although it is known that Hibiki wished to further her training as a shrine maiden. The three also became acquainted with Takamine the Mistsplitter, who also learned the Tengu arts during his period of servitude to the Great Tengu. However, Takamine does not seem to be considered part of the group, Yougou Three.

The story back to Watatsumi island. At last, moving by the request of his own people for hundreds of years, Orobashi reluctantly agrees to Watatsumi's  plan to invade and conquer part of Yashiori Island. In past years, Orobashi has trained Watatsumi people to become mighty warriors who commandeered ships and sea monsters while mastering wave and cloud, leading them in an invasion of the Electro Archon's lands amidst the whistling of whalesongs. Yet even with all this preparation, Orobashi  knew that he would not have any chance of survival this time. He had no hope of victory, and his purpose was not conquest, but sacrifice. The shrine maiden written a prophecy of the certain defeat and the future of humiliation that awaited this eastern expedition. Orobashi accepted the prophecy's result calmly.  Even if Orobashi would pass away, its people would endlessly weave their memories of joy, prosperity, bitterness, and loss into a united faith. These memories, in turn, would flourish on account of the intense emotions of a vanquished people forced into shameful submission. Perhaps it was upon heaven's order (Celestia) that Orobashi went to his death, after all he should have died when he lost at the archon war.

The inevitable civil war occurred, many turn into victims. Akuou was one of the three generals of Watatsumi's invasion force during the Narukami-Watatsumi War over Yashiori Island, along with Orobashi, Akuou, Ayame, and Mouu. Akuou is an orphan of unknown origins and without a name, He was taken in by Orobashi and was apprenticed to the shrine maiden Mouun and her twin sister Ayame. He was particularly close with Mouun, and his biography indicates that the two were lovers. While they attacked narukami to gain access to Yashiori Island's abundant natural resources and make up for Watatsumi Island's natural deficiencies, Akuou also did so partially for his own ego.

The Watatsumi forces succeeded in conquering and annexing Yashiori Island. Akuou — who had distinguished himself in battle — became its vassal ruler, gaining the title of "Touzannou" (King of the Eastern Mountain) from Orobashi. When word reached Narukami Island, Makoto was preoccupied with domestic affairs, so Raiden Ei led a force to subjugate the invaders. Her tengu general, Sasayuri has gone first before her embark. Unfortunately,  Sasayuri is slain during battle against Akuou, who had sought a "joyful" duel against him. Devastated by the news of Sasayuri's death, as one of Ei closest friend,  Ei punished Akuou herself with Musou no Hitotachi (her divine judgement), alongside Orobashi. Her slash is so powerful and it is splitting Yashiori Island in half and creating Musoujin Gorge in the process. The remnant reverberations of lightning bolts continue to this day, as if the thunder elves are still chattering about the legendary scene that tore through the sky and the earth thousands of years ago. Mouun was slain by Sasayuri's subordinates and had her body taken away, while Ayame disappeared into the ocean and was never heard of again. Watatsumi Island was thus left in the hands of the Divine Priestess (Author Note: not Kokomi), who had not participated in battle and instead remained on the island. Ei lost one of 3 close friend and Orobashi's prophecy is fulfilled.

Meanwhile, at Mount Yougou, Takamine and Hibiki grew close, a matter which the Kitsune Saiguu enjoyed teasing her over. They became each other first love. Many years later, Takamine was no longer a servant boy, and he had grasped both some archery and swordsmanship. Despite priding himself in both fields, he was much more renowned for his skill with his blade. Finding it a shame that his Tengu archery was going to waste, he taught it to Hibiki.
