SCHOOL 2021 GET ANOTHER TROUBLE AHEAD THEIR PRODUCTION

School 2021” is part of KBS’s representative school genre series that starred famous actors including Jang Hyuk, Ha Ji Won, Lim Soo Jung, Gong Yoo, Jo In Sung, Kim Woo Bin, Lee Jong Suk, Nam Joo Hyuk, and more. The upcoming eight installment of the “School” series will be about young adults who choose different paths instead of just preparing for college entrance exams. The drama will portray the dreams, friendships, excitement, and growth of the 18-year-old youths standing in front of an uncertain future.

As many people who follows about the development of this drama, especially loyal fans who have watched the older series, might found this news a hearth breaking news. Back in May of this year, Kim Young Dae garnered attention for choosing a lead role in KBS2's 'School 2021' as his next project. On July 15, one official of 'School 2021' explained that Kim Young Dae had confirmed his appearance in the drama and had already attended all the meetings, such as the actors' meeting and script reading practice. He was already preparing to start the first filming this month, but his agency just suddenly notified the production team that Kim Young Dae will be dropping out of the drama.

Kim Young Dae is undoubtedly one of Korea's brightest young stars! The talented actor started his career with brief roles before he got his big break on MBC's Extraordinary You, where he played the school heartthrob. He gained recognition amongst the younger audiences and quickly followed it up with two back to back hit dramas, Cheat On Me If You Can and SBS' smash-hit makjang drama, The Penthouse.

On July 15, one official of 'School 2021' explained that Kim Young Dae had confirmed his appearance in the drama and had already attended all the meetings, such as the actors' meeting and script reading practice. He was already preparing to start the first filming this month, but his agency just suddenly notified the production team that Kim Young Dae will be dropping out of the drama.

The production team and KBS have not agreed to actor Kim Young Dae’s departure [from the drama], and we are working to reach an amicable settlement.

It is unfortunate that articles about [Kim Young Dae] starring in a different program were released simultaneously with articles about him leaving [“School 2021”] without officially discussing with the program’s production team.

According to an industry representative, Kim Young Dae decided to step down because things were different from what was originally discussed. Therefore, the drama is searching for another actor to replace him and take the role of Jung Young Joo.

May this problem get solved by each other side peacefully.

This casting isn't the first problem that school 2021 has experienced. School 2021' became involved in a casting controversy back in 2020 as well, when actress Ahn Seo Hyun was reportedly dropped from as the female lead. Actress Kim Sae Ron was up for discussion to fill for the vacant female lead role; however, Kim Sae Ron ultimately decided to turn the offer down.
