[BREAKING] DAY 6 JAE LEAVE JYP ENTERTAINMENT
There is official statement from the agency JYP entertainment regarding this news:
Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.
First of all, we sincerely apologize for causing concern with sudden news to My Day, who shows much support for DAY6.
Jae, who has been a member of DAY6 until now, left the team as of December 31, 2021, and his contract was terminated. We exchanged deep conversations with Jae for a long time, and following careful discussion, we decided to respect the artist’s opinion and conclude our exclusive contract
Although our relationship with Jae has come to an end, JYP Entertainment will also cheer on Jae’s future activities with his new start.
We promise to continue full support and efforts for DAY6’s activities, and we ask for continuous love and support from My Day.
Thank you.
Meanwhile the member personally said his reasoning, status and future plan with fans using twitch, on his personal social media account. Jae inform fans not to be worried.
Currently, The group won’t be doing active promotions as the members are doing military service. As Jae isn't a Korean citizen and a US. Citizen, so he doesn't need to enlist. In the time being, Jae choose to go back to his hometown in the US, before planning his return to Korea after all his member finish their duty. After Sungjin left for the military JYPE chose to focus on EoD and left Jae out in the cold to fend for himself.
On his personal twitter he tweet:
"Hello My Day,
I am sincerely grateful for everyone who has been with DAY6 and me. For the past six years, I have had a very good time and made memories that will last forever in my heart. I have had a lot of thoughts and ideas, and put in a lot of work, but I am still lacking in many ways, so I can’t stay where I am right now.
After a thorough discussion with JYP Entertainment, I am sorry to tell you that we have made the decision for me to take a break from DAY6’s activities for the time being. I will cherish all the memories, from the sweat and tears we shed together to the adventures and thrills that we shared for the past six years. I will return after working on myself. Thank you!" — Jae
Half a day later on January 1, 2022 at 12PM KST, however, JYP Entertainment shared a contradicting announcement to DAY6’s official Twitter account. The tweet claims Jae’s contract with the agency has been terminated as of December 31, 2021 and that he is no longer a part of DAY6.
Meanwhile, Jae has commented in his latest Twitch stream (ongoing live on January 1, 2022 KST as the agency’s announcement came) that he “has talked to the boys” and that DAY6 will “come full circle.” He confirmed that he is no longer in DAY6 “for now,” but insisted that “the five of [them] will most likely be on a stage again.” He has talked about it with the members that once they are all back from the military, he will be back together with day6. he said if yall dont trust him, trust the boys, and that we all can take their words. In the US, he want to try to excel his skill in band and try to perform there. He plan to grow his own band and create a music there without the interfere of JYP.
"It’s going to take a little bit of time for the boys to come back and be ready full circle because they’re on military duty, right? So once everyone’s back, we’ll probably sit down, have another discussion, because we already talked about it. I think we’re good. You’re just going to have to trust me. Or if you don’t trust me, trust the boys. That’s all there is to it. So there will be group activities as a whole. In my mind right now, I say yes. I would be very surprised if there came a reality in the future where we did not participate again as DAY6. I don’t know about the name or how that situation’s going to go, but the five of us will most likely be on a stage again." — Jae via @lunekyh on Twitter
While Jae continues to claim he and DAY6 will return whole, the agency has made his departure from the group official and permanent.
