SEVERAL TIMES KPOP FANS OR STANS HAS DONE TOO MUCH
Become a fans of specific kpop group might make you a bit bias toward your favorite idols. Sometimes it even makes you delusional. Most of kpop fans (I said most, because not all are obsessed over the idol) are obsessed because they felt a strong connection/strongly felt relatable to the idol, hence they develop a sense of belonging to the idol. Since their idol activity, music, etc accompanying us almost everyday. Here are several times fans has done too much to defend or support their idols.
1. Individual stans always ask for "MORE FAIRNESS" toward their bias
Award-winning director Baek Jong-Yul, known as Baik, and critically-acclaimed fashion photographer Hong Jang-Hyun, who worked with BTS, were severely cyberbullied on their personal Instagram accounts by rogue solo fans of Jungkook who were dissatisfied with the screen time he got. The hate comments ranged from various unfounded claims and sexual harassment along with a barrage of vile comments.
2. When fans can't admit the real data
Gallup cancelled its yearly posting of South Korea's most preferred idol after being harrassed by akgaes of other BTS members. When Jimin emerged as the top idol in 2019, the research body was harrassed to no end; some even claiming that the data is fabricated. Gallup, itself, released a statement in 2019, disproving the claims of other members stans that the data collected is biased and manipulated. Come 2020 and Gallup has decided to NOT post the 2020 results to avoid internal conflicts in the fandom.
3. When fans demands that their bias is the only one
Jeremy Burge, the founder of EmojiPedia, has been harassed by BTS V akgaes when they posted their data showing that BTS Jimin was more closely associated with the use of the purple heart emoji. The founder, himself, posted an excerpt of several emails sent to him by V akgaes claiming the purple heart as their own.
4. When fans trespass privacy of the idols
Sometimes the idols were staying at a hotel for an overseas schedule. Unfortunately, A fan managed to set up hidden cameras all over the gym in the hotel. EXO Suho was working out when he spotted the cameras. He can be seen covering his face and pointing them out to a security guard in the photos that were leaked. Sometimes they even give a huge teddy bear doll just to hide a hidden camera. Even worse, a fan somehow managed to set up a hidden camera inside former member Luhan's hotel room, releasing photos of him getting his makeup getting done right in his room.
5. When fans attacks other celebrities without checking the truth
Even V's friend, NIVE, is not excempt from harrassment by V akgaes when mistranslation in the international side of the fandom made it seem that Nive was disregarding V's contributions in the creation of Blue and Grey. The singer/song-writer himself had to issue a statement.
6. When fans follows the idols everywhere they go
During their plane ride back to South Korea, some sasaeng fans decided to board the same plane as their favorite idols. NCT, EXO, TVXQ, BTS, have experiences the same creepy activities. Some fans even success to book a seat beside the idols. There is a gray area in between. Behind many beautiful, wallpaper-worthy photos of Korea’s pop and screen idols are dedicated fansites. The fans that run these sites track their star’s every move and are on hand to get pics of them arriving at and leaving concert venues, airports, award nights, even private social engagements. Most fansites are happy to simply share their photos on Twitter or in other social media channels with watermarks of their own logos, but others may sell their own photos through merchandise such as photobooks or photocard. Recently though, some fansites have been exhibiting sasaeng, or obsessive behaviour – for instance when a site dedicated to Iz*One’s Jang Won-young’s, Stay Delight (@staydelight0831), posted close-up photos of the idol in New York on Twitter. It's only one case, in so many other similar cases when a fansites stalk the idols even in their privacy time. It is often unclear whether such fansites typically start out with good intentions then transition into sasaeng behaviour, or if sasaeng fans pose as fansites to get close to their idols.
In early 2019, Big Hit Entertainment released a list of sasaeng fansites blacklisted from all events and places where BTS would be. Sasaeng fans are known to wait for their favorite idols at airports, and BTS has experienced this many times. There have also been many moments when sasaeng fans have been seen chasing idols at the airport. V is an idol who has had to deal with this on many occasions
What do you think? Do you think all above is still acceptable and normal things to do? Tell me what's your opinion about it.
