Epex is an eight-member South Korean boy group formed by C9 Entertainment in 2021, consisting of Wish, Keum, Mu, A-Min, Baekseung, Ayden, Yewang and Jeff. C9 was previously founded as singer Younha's one-man agency Wealive and later the one-man agency signed a partnership with hip-hop label Alive. In July 2015, Wealive-Alive merged with the indie label Realive and later officially launched their company, C9 Entertainment.
In 2016, C9 Entertainment merged with GG Entertainment which manages Eugene, Lee See Eun, and Jung Ui Chul. They also signed a partnership with Benq Korea on their gaming brand, Zowie. In the same year, soloist Juniel signed to C9 Entertainment.
This rookie boy group EPEX has attracted a lot of attention because in just 4 months, they have returned to greet fans with a new album. According to the Hanteo chart, rookie idol group EPEX has recorded sales of the album titled “Bipolar Pt. 1: Prelude of Anxiety” as many as 33,535 copies. In addition to the impressive number, this is also the highest album sales of all idol group debuts this year. Their first album, “Bipolar Pt. 1: Prelude of Anxiety”, on sale for the week of June 8-14 June.
The group also received positive responses internationally as they ranked second on the Israeli and Thai iTunes general music genre charts one day after its release. The official music video for the title track "Lock Down" also surpassed 10 million views in just three days after its release.
Unfortunately, bad news came from the Korean boy group, EPEX. Three of their members were exposed to Covid-19. This was reported directly by the EPEX agency, C9 Entertainment, through the official statement they released.
On January 18, 2022, EPEX member A-Min started showing mild symptoms of a sore throat. On the same day, all EPEX members underwent a PCR test because there was a schedule for that week.
One day later, the test results came out. From these results, it is known that Wish, A-Min, and Jeff were positive for the virus, while other members such as Keum, MU, Baekseung, Ayden, and Yewang all tested negative.
Because of this, finally all group activities had to be temporarily suspended until the members recovered. The latest news is that Wish is also known to have mild symptoms of a sore throat, while Jeff is not experiencing any symptoms.
