2020 was a wild year, its also been dubbed the year in which many Korean idols and actors shocked fans with their marriage news. Despite the pandemic where many people are worried with the spread of covid-19 virus in the world, surprisingly there is a happy news around the corner of our beloved celebrities. Today we’re taking a look at the most shocking marriage announcements of 2020. If you're forget some of it, let's check it together!

1. TVXQ Changmin

On June 12, Changmin surprised fans by sharing the news himself through a handwritten letter. In the letter, he expressed his nervousness to write it as he has something important to tell his fans.

Changmin says that he decided to continue his life with the woman whom he had previously confirmed to be dating. The wedding was held in September and added that Yunho supported his decision and was happy for him. Many fans support his decision as he is already senior in the industry and in the right age to start family. 

Following his personal letter, his agency, SM Entertainment confirmed the news in a separate statement. Changmin got married on October 25 to his non-celebrity girlfriend, since she’s a non-celebrity, details about the wedding was not be disclosed to the public. As usual, it become a private marriage since one of the groom is not public figure.

2.  ACTOR Sungjoon

On February 3, Sung Joon opened up about his personal life revealing that he has married a non-celebrity wife and that he has a child. This sudden news might shock many k drama viewers. The shocking news was revealed through his agency O& Entertainment that explained that he was in a relationship with someone he was planning to marry, and right before his enlistment, they had a child and the couple rushed through the legal proceedings. Although it is another shotgun marriage, yet it's great to hear that the actor being a responsible daddy. Sung Joon requested a change in assignment to carry out his military service as a full-time reserve. He plan to do the wedding party after his enlistment date.

3. EXO Chen

On January 13, EXO Chen personally announced that he’s currently engaged to his non-celebrity girlfriend who is also pregnant with his child. Maybe it's a culture in South Korea, where the girl needs to be pregnant first before they got marriage eventually, especially for celebrities there.

After this sudden news, SM Entertainment confirmed that EXO Chen is getting married to his non-celebrity girlfriend and is going to become a dad. The wedding will be held privately attended by only their families, no more details were announced. This news doesn't get received well by his fans.  Over 28 fansites shut down or take rest following Chen marriage news, and many Korean fans opposed his marriage. There is a particular fan union that continues to demand SM to kick out Chen from EXO for ‘damaging the group.’The so called fans even demonstrate in the cold in front of SM building to protest.  SM never agreed to their demands. SM even stated in an official statement that Chen won’t be leaving EXO. On April 29, news outlets began to report that EXO Chen’s wife gave birth to a baby girl today at a hospital in the neighborhood of Cheongdam in Gangnam District. Chen celebrate his daughter first birthday in a five stars hotel in Seoul.

4. So Ji Sub

Actor So Ji Sub (43 years old) has confirmed that he legally registered his marriage to former announcer Jo Eun Jung who is 17 years younger than him earlier this year. Well, this might not be some surprise news, after all both couple has been officially dating this pass years. Back in May of 2019, the actor confirmed that they had begun dating, the two met for the first time in 2018 after Jo Eun Jung interviewed So Ji Sub for his movie “Be With You.” The marriage news comes almost a year after the announcement of the couple dating news. After the news went public, So Ji Sub’s agency 51K entertainment coolly confirmed the relationship and said, ‘they’re in a serious relationship.’

More over, some netizens already began to speculate that So Ji Sub could be getting married to Jo Eun Jung, she quit her job and retired from the entertainment industry, and he was spotted shopping for an expensive ring at ‘Tiffany & Co.’ his wife’s official profile and SNS were all deleted from the internet.

In accordance to So Ji Sub and Jo Eun Jung’s wishes to keep this important happy moment of their lives quiet, only their close family members have gathered and they have decided to donate 50 million won to Good Neighbors to help children who are having trouble with education acquire tablet PC’s and smart devices to assist their studies.

5. Gill

The former Leessang member shocked fans by announcing he had gotten married 3 years ago during an appearance on January 27 on Channel A variety show ‘Eye Contact.’

But that’s not only it, the rapper also had a son two years ago. He’s been married since 2018. He has been away from the limelight following his third drunk driving incident, he’s taken a hiatus since then and this marked his first appearance in a long time on TV.
