IDOLS IN TROUBLE FOR JAIL OR PRISON SENTENCE
On May 20, the final hearing for former BTOB member Ilhoon’s charges of purchasing and using marijuana was held at Seoul Central District Court.
On December 21, the outlet Channel A reported that Ilhoon had been caught by the police after using marijuana. It was reported that the police were able to confirm through testimonies from accomplices and checking bank account activity that Ilhoon used marijuana with acquaintances multiple times from four to five years ago until last year. Late in the evening on May 27, Ilhoon posted a photo on Instagram of himself with a short notice that the idols claim will enlist soon. Ilhoon and seven other defendants were brought to trial for suspicions of purchasing and smoking 826 grams (approximately 1.8 pounds) of marijuana together using approximately 130 million won (approximately $116,500) across 161 instances between July 5, 2016 and January 9, 2019. Ilhoon withdrew from BTOB last December and is currently completing his mandatory military service as a public service worker.
Cube Entertainment told news outlet MK Sports that Ilhoon will be enlisting on May 28. They also shared that after four weeks of basic training, he will be serving as a public service worker. The location and time of his enlistment are being kept private.
The prosecutors requested, “We demand four years in prison and 133 million won (approximately $117,400) in fines for defendant Jung Ilhoon.”
In his final testimony, Ilhoon stated, “I apologize for disappointing the many people who believed in me. I’ve reflected on my life until now while going through this incident. Although it is irrevocable, I will keep and remember the pain and realization I gained through this incident and live on without shame.”
Jung Ilhoon feels strong responsibility for breaking the trust of fans and causing disappointment, and he is deeply reflecting. Respecting his opinion to no longer cause harm to the group, it was decided that he will withdraw from the group as of today.
Ilhoon’s lawyer said, “The defendant is bitterly regretting it. He suffered a great deal of stress while promoting in the entertainment industry as a songwriter and trainee from a young age, and he tried to relieve the stress in the wrong way.”
Meanwhile according to her agency Celltrion Entertainment and the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on May 19, Park Soo Young was booked without detention on the charge of violating the Road Traffic Act which prohibits driving while intoxicated. She admitted to the charge when questioned by the police.
Park soo young or known more as Lizzy from ex after school member did that yesterday. On May 18 at approximately 10 p.m. KST, Park Soo Young was driving in the neighborhood of Cheongdam in Seoul’s Gangnam District when she ran into a taxi. No injuries resulted from the accident.
Her blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was at a level that will have her driver’s license revoked.
