But they could do mukbang show in youtube, no need to broadcast it. Not all artists offered have the expertise to cook, sometimes the artists offered cannot cook at all and this is the excitement on the show. Viewers will urge to see how much progress the contestant can get during the actual show.

These artists will later have to learn to cook for the menus they will launch. Many of these artists will come to chefs who are already well known in Korea to learn cooking so as not to disappoint their customers. Some of them might surprise you with how good their skills are.

Well, here are 5 variety shows that make the artists have to open their own restaurants!

1. Youn’s Kitchen (2017 and 2018)
On this variety show not all artists can cook, so someone has to learn to cook. Another uniqueness is that because they open Korean restaurants and not in Korea it is their own challenge to adjust to the tongue in the area and also the problem of the language used.

Season 1 was hosted by Yeon Yuh Jung as Main Chef assisted by Jung Yu Mi, Lee Seo Jin and Shin Goo. Season 2 is still guided by the same team except that Shin Goo was replaced by Park Seo Joon

In season 1, the actresses focused on bulgogi (meat menu) as the main menu while in season 2 the main menu focused on bibimbap or Korean-style mixed rice whose main ingredients are lots of vegetables.

Youn’s Kitchen is a Korean food restaurant that opened outside of Korea. There are 2 seasons on this variety show and are in different locations. Season 1 the location of the restaurant was opened in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia while for Season 2 it was in Garachico, Spain. The menu that was launched was different in each season.

A pair of friends Yoo Yeon Sok and Son Ho Jun were offered to open a coffee shop or café that would offer their own food and drinks. Yoo Yeon Sok will be the chef and Son Ho Jun will be the barista in this café.

The presentation of good food and made directly by famous artists made this Coffee Friends quickly become very famous, finally the four of them decided to hire a part timer and of course the part timers who came were famous artists so that it was even more interesting to watch.

Located in Jeju Island, in the middle of jeju orange orchard, this café will offer a brunch menu. There's no way it can only be run alone, so Yoo Yeon Sok and Son Ho Jun each invite their friends to help them. And Choi Ji Woo was chosen to be in charge of the Hall Manager and Yang Se Jong as the kitchen assistant.

The most unique thing about Coffee Friends is that they do not set prices for every dish and drink they sell so that buyers are free to determine the price and the whole profit will be donated to the Children's Foundation in Korea.

3. 4 Wheeled Restaurant
There are 3 seasons from 4 Wheeled Restaurant with 3 different countries. Season 1 will open its restaurant in Thailand with its host Hong Seok Chon, Yoo Jin Goo and Lee Min Woo. This time the restaurant is a food truck concept, chefs and artists will be challenged to make local dishes of a country and will see if the natives like the food. This is the main challenge on this variety show.

While in Season 3 they will open a restaurant in the United States with the same members as in Season 2 with the addition of new members such as Eric Shinhwa and John Park.
4. Kang’s Kitchen (2018-2019)
Kang’s Kitchen is a spinoff from Variety Show New Journey to the West Season 4 to open a restaurant in Jeju Island. The player will be exactly the same as the producer who is still the same, Na PD. Whereas in season 3, Cho Kyu Hyun, who just finished his military service, will immediately join this team.

The food they will serve is food that is commonly found in Korea but with a little improvement from the members and not all of it is Korean food.

5. Deokhwa’s Coffeehouse (2019)
Not everything can go smoothly, there are even some minor quarrels between husband and wife that show the reality that opening a business is not easy. Lee Deok Hwa, one of the senior artists in South Korea made his own variety show by opening a coffee shop with his wife Kim Bo Ok. From some of these variety shows, it can be seen that these artists also re-learn things that they have not been able to before and also want to accept challenges that are different from their habits. Moreover, they are not half-hearted in running this event to be a plus in itself from this variety show. They tried something new that many retirees did. Everything they do from scratch together starting from the research market and looking for workers.
