Worst KPOP agency that debut idols

Many kpop stans think that the big 3 agencies like sm entertainment, jyp or yg are the worst company ever. But is it the truth? Even though that in some cases, these big agencies might not be perfect and sometimes mistreated their artists, and get a lot of complaints from the idols themselves, yet, in several occasions, many idols also feels grateful with the company and stay loyal because they know that there is a lot of worse company out there who treat idols like sex slave, harassed them with physical assault, insult and debt. Some of the agency even didn’t accommodate their artists properly. Most complain that many Korean agencies got from public are:
1. Put the artist into dungeon (aka don’t promote the idols properly)
2. Unfair profit share (yet we can see many idols in big 3 live a decent life)
3. Unfair contract, with big penalties and long term (usually 7 to 10 years)
4.Overworked the idols with too much schedule, especially when they’re on demand

Yet, it isn't the worst scenario. Far from that above, there is many other crucial things that the idols can get and having more miserable condition, left helpless behind the glamour of Kpop entertainment industry. On this occasion, we will talk about this 4 agencies, who in fact, outed by their own idols as probably the worst agency in Korea.

1. Media line entertainment
The East Light consisted of six members was a South Korean band formed by Media Line Entertainment. The east light made their official debut with the single "Holla" on November 3, 2016. Back on December 14, Bangbae Police Station requested an arrest warrant for Moon. The request was approved and enforced in the morning of the 15th. Currently, Moon is jailed at Seocho Police Station. The East Light's leader Lee Suk Chul appeared in front of the press with his legal representative, and  gave a full testimony regarding the violence and abuse that he and the east light members suffered. Media Line Entertainment held a press conference with CEO Kim Chang Hwan, Lee Jung Hyun, and former The East Light Members Jung Sa Gang and Lee Eun Sung, in which they refuted the claims made by brothers Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun.

In the end, Moon Young Il was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of child abuse of former The East Light members Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun, while Kim Chang Hwan was sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for two years of probation for aiding and abetting child abuse. Moon Young Il was also ordered 80 hours and Kim Chang Hwan was ordered 40 hours of an educational program on child abuse treatment. Media Line Entertainment was additionally sentenced a fine of 20 million won (approximately $17,000).

The series of events not only pulled back on the curtain on the abuses faced by entertainers and trainees, but also spoke to a larger culture of abuse known as Gapjil, a thrive on the structure of authority that allows those in power to abuse subordinates, often without consequences.  In addition to verbal abuse, Lee Seok-cheol detailed both himself and his brother being hit with a baseball bat in excess of 50 times, and being choked with a guitar string when he failed to follow directions. The agency use sound-proof rooms and it would be locked so that there was no way for members to escape the abuse, and no one could hear it outside. After the case, All members of The East Light are parting ways with Media Line Entertainment.

2. Ts entertainment
It is't the first time TS entertainment has mistreat their idols, previously, they've missmanaged BAP. According to the exclusive Dispatch report on the 18th, TRCNG members endured unlivable conditions with barely any heating, air conditioning or electricity due to unpaid bills by the agency. The company executives also verbally and physically abused the members with one member recalling a time when "a senior executive beat a member with a metal chair causing his ear lobe to split and the member had to pay his own medical bill afterwards. All the members saw it happen."

One of the claims presented by Wooyeop and Taeseon include TRCNG's poor living conditions. It's reported 8 members lived in 2 rooms on the 1st floor of a duplex apartment in Hannam-dong, Seoul, while 2 other members lived in an attic-type room on the 2nd floor of the duplex. Both former members stated the 10 members lived in an extremely cramped space. Wooyeop stated, "The 2nd floor is just a storage room. The ceiling is low, so you can't stand up all the way. It's not heated well either. We had to live in clutter around our belongings, clothes, and equipment." It's also reported the apartment was old and not well-maintained, and the below image reveals flooring damaged by a water leak. Dispatch also reported the electricity and water to the apartment were often cut off because of unpaid bills, which was the responsibility of TS Entertainment. Wooyeop stated, "In January of 2018, our boiler was shut off. It's further reported one toilet in their dormitory had to be repaired, and all 10 members were forced to share the other one toilet in their living space. That toilet also needed repair eventually. Though the members asked TS Entertainment to call the plumber, the label allegedly didn't respond. Wooyeop's mother called and paid for plumbing services herself.

BAP  faced hardship during their journey (contract slave) till they can’t handle it anymore so they sue the company and went into hiatus. After hiatus things get harder as they need to build up their name again. We fans even boycott their concert to let them rest a bit. BAP Member were being tortured by the company as packed schedules up to 7 comeback in a year, world tour in each year and non stop promotion concert. They even force them to perform even when they were sick. They complained about the uneven distribution of incomes. I mean, the work and promotions are done by B.A.P

3. MBK Entertainment  (CCM/Core content Media)

In 2011, MBK Entertainment was still known as Core Contents Media (CCM). The agency changed its name to MBK Entertainment in 2014 after being acquired by MBK Co. Every single one of their artists has left after contract termination. MBK is popular among fans with its bad promotion techniques (including bad publicity = good publicity and not being afraid to completely throw their own artist under the bus to get a quick profit). MBK also have tendency to add/change members in an already established groups, in short, their treatment to artist is suck. Shannon, who had a lot of pre-debut appearances, didn't do as well as other rookies that weren't promoted at all during their pre-debut, she wasn't even high on charts.

4. J TUNE Entertainment
The seven-member boy group MADTOWN debuted in 2014 under the agency J.Tune Camp, and most recently promoted as a group with their song “Emptiness” in the summer of 2016.

Dispatch has released a report about what happened between that time and now. In December of 2016, J.Tune Camp announced they would be shutting down, and MADTOWN was reportedly sold to the agency GNI Entertainment for 300 million won (approximately $264,000).

The CEO of GNI Entertainment’s parent company GNI Group was arrested for fraud in February of 2017. His son is the CEO of MADTOWN’s agency GNI Entertainment, and he was also arrested for fraud in March. As previously reported, the agency then shut down, with staff members including MADTOWN’s manager leaving the company.

It is reported that in addition to MADTOWN, over 800 people can be considered victims of GNI’s situation, with damages estimated at 80 billion won (approximately $70.53 million). The victims have formed a group and liquidated the assets held by GNI, including the security deposits put down for leases and building rental fees, as well as sold the company’s cars and took ownership of their accommodations.

MADTOWN has reportedly not been paid since March, and they are each carrying out their activities without the help of the agency. Meanwhile, the group of people who were victims of GNI’s fraud consider MADTOWN to be an asset of GNI that’s valued at 300 million won. MADTOWN is still signed to an exclusive contract with GNI for another four years, reportedly until October 5, 2021.

MADTOWN’s lawyer Sun Jong Moon stated, “According to article 5, paragraph 4 of their contract, a third party cannot infringe upon their entertainment activities. Their contract rights cannot also not be transferred to a third party without MADTOWN’s signed consent, as it would be a violation of article 5, paragraph 6.”

This report states that on August 21, all seven members of MADTOWN filed requests for an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court against the head of GNI Entertainment to end their exclusive contracts.

The group previously also filed a civil suit against GNI Entertainment on August 18 to have the nonexistence of their contracts confirmed. Both of these legal actions aim to give MADTOWN legal freedom from GNI Entertainment, as they state that the agency has no ability to support them. The actions would both put an end to their contracts with GNI Entertainment as well as provide legal confirmation that their contracts no longer exist. In regards to the suit to confirm the nonexistence of their exclusive contracts, the first hearing has not yet been held yet. This is being carried out separately from the injunction to end the contracts, and the agency has assigned a lawyer for this case. Star News notes that it therefore appears that there will be a certain amount of dispute over the issue.
