It’s unusual for a solo star to thrive in the cutthroat world of Korean pop music. Now a $5 billion global industry, K-pop, as its passionate followers across the world call it, is most recognizable for its girl and boy groups who train for up to 10 years before ever setting foot on stage. IU as solo singer has the most digital number 1 hits in South Korea since 2010. It’s been almost a decade since solo singer IU debuted, and she’s been at the top of the industry for most of that career. 
While many trendy artists have had their ups and downs, IU has maintained a level of well-rounded success hat has essentially been unrivaled.

During her post-debut time, IU revealed on MBC TV’s “Quiz to Change the World” on the 2nd of April that she had lost 10 kg because of her busy schedule and other daily activities. It seemed that she worked very hard to look better than her debut stage. Of course, the main reason behind IU’s success is simply because she makes amazing music. Not only does she have a unique and angelic voice, but she’s also a musical genius as well. IU wrote her own lyrics and producing her own song.

Many people have guessed that she has been through plastic surgery to overcome her beauty but actually one of the secrets to her beauty is her diet plan. IU’s diet plan is quite popular among girls who want to lose their weight. What is the secret to diet plan?

As a songwriter, IU employs sophisticated compositional techniques that makes her music stand out in the pop scene. For example, she frequently uses deceptive cadences. If you are not familiar with music theory, here is what that means: Typically, whenever you hear the fifth note of a musical scale (called the “dominant”), the next chord will belong to the first note of the scale (the “tonic”). Most people find this satisfying to hear, as it creates a feeling of resolution. However, if instead the next note belongs to the minor sixth chord of the scale, it creates a sudden feeling of sadness, like black storm clouds rolling in on a sunny day. This is a deceptive cadence.

Before her debut as singer, she was called fat because her appearance was over the female idol standard weight in the K-Pop industry. After her hard work dieting, she was far slimmer than before her debut. On SBS Strong Heart, IU revealed her body weight and height after her debut. Her current weight is 45kg while her height is 162cm. Her weight and height have remained stable until now.

On an episode of KBS Happy Together Season 3, she revealed that she does aerobics for an hour and also follows a diet meal plan. The Myproana diet is well known as an extreme diet. The myproana diet is one of the diet solution plans to lose weight until people reach their standard weight with their current body state.

People believe that IU is following the myproana diet for her diet plan. For her diet meal, she consumes 1 apple for breakfast, 1 or 2 sweet potatoes for lunch and 1 protein drink for dinner. She has that every day while doing her other daily activities. Each day, she only consumes around 300 Kcal per day. By sticking to this extreme diet plan, she can lose weight of up to 4 kg in the 4 days following this extreme diet.

As you can see from the review video of IU’s diet plan, the diet is not really recommended if you want to lose weight. Because actually, IU’s diet is unhealthy and will make you sick after a while since people are not use to going through extreme diets.  As it is one method of diet that popular among Kpop idols, this diet give extreme stress to your body, so you can't do it for a longer time.
