WHO IS KOKOMI AND TSUMI? THREE REALM GATEAWAY OFFERING

We already know Kokomi as The young Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island and a descendant of the Sangonomiya Clan.

But many genshin impact player begin to feel suspicious about Kokomi “real background” and start to theorize that she might be a vishap or ancient sovereign dragon.

It isn’t a baseless theory, after all hoyoverse might have place several hints in the story quest. But before we talk more about Kokomi’s lore, lets reveal who is Tsumi.

Tsumi that shown up as a miko wearing a snake like mask is actually Orobashi’s familiar that mistaken by Enjou the abyss lector as vishap. Tsumi is the last vassal of watatsumi, created by Orobashi to be intermediary between human (Sangonomiya people) and vishap people when they were still in territory dispute.

Tsumi isn’t a vishap, but more like a snake as she is created from Orobashi. When Orobashi created watatsumi island from her own scale, she lost a lot of energy/power and unable to create another new vassal. Tsumi as the last vassal get kidnapped by vishap then raised there. Although by the end of journey, Tsumi choose to stay in vishap realm because she feels that she isn’t human.

Vassals of Watatsumi typically take on a half-human, half-snake form, symbolizing that they are the familiars of orobashi the serpent god. Over time, the vassals gradually became identical to humans — all except for the pupils of their eyes.

Meanwhile even kokomi denied the existence of vishap people or reptilian, but many player doesn’t believe it. This is several reason why Kokomi might be a vishap:

1. Enjou hasn’t lied to traveler, what he has told, revealed to be true. Enjou found on his research about vishap people. Enjou said that vishap gradually infiltrated & took over many high-ranking positions. Kokomi is high ranking. Enjou also said The Bathysmal Vishaps are a highly intelligent and fast-evolving kind. There have been legends about human vishap for over a thousand years now. They tried to survive by mimicking the shape of the victor (Human)

2. In game description of Bathysmal Vishap, there will be a dragon of water reincarnated in a form of a human. Kokomi's constellation's name literally means sleeping dragoness. More over, her design also influence with vishap a lot, especially her hair pin.

3. Orobashi ordered her people to do research with vishaps (even cooperate with abyss order) to be able to transplant orobashi coral skin after became weak when creating watatsumi island. On the research, they found that vishap is extraordinary intelligence and can evolve one day into a human. The enkanomiya elders predict that one day there will be an enkanomiya lineage that comes from vishap, or vishap might evolve and imitate human.

4. Looking at the eyes of Kokomi, it looks weird as she doesn’t have pupil. On the enkanomiya book about vishap, they said hydro is the highest in term of elemental being of a vishap and they will losing vision when grow older.
