ALL KPOP GROUPS THAT IS BORN FROM PRODUCE 101 VARIETY IDOLS SHOW OF MNET
Produce 101, featuring female trainees premiered on January 22, 2016. Produce 101 Season 2, featuring male trainees premiered on April 7, 2017. Although the continuation has been cancelled due to a fraud scandal or vote manipulation, produce series have a total 4 season in Korea + 2 season for Japanese trainee. It's arguably that Produce is a successful media to debut a new group, as all their winner group achieve higher standard among big company group. Let's start from the winner group, shall we?
1. IOI
I.O.I (Korean: 아이오아이; also known as IOI or Ideal of Idol) was a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the 2016 reality show Produce 101 on Mnet. The original debut group who pace the path for any new generation afterward. The group was composed of eleven members chosen from a pool of 101 trainees from various entertainment companies: Yoo Yeon-jung, Lim Na-young, Kang Mina, Kim Do-yeon, Jung Chae-yeon, Zhou Jieqiong, Kim So-hye, Kim Chung-ha, Choi Yoo-jung, Kim Se-jeong and Jeon So-mi. There is several reunion project coming up soon for fans to cheer.
2. Wannaone
The group was composed of eleven members: Kang Daniel, Park Ji-hoon, Lee Dae-hwi, Kim Jae-hwan, Ong Seong-wu, Park Woo-jin, Lai Kuan-lin, Yoon Ji-sung, Hwang Min-hyun, Bae Jin-young and Ha Sung-woon. The group debuted on August 7, 2017, under Swing Entertainment and CJ E&M.
3. IZONE
IZONE is a South Korean–Japanese girl group formed through the Mnet reality competition show Produce 48. The group is composed of twelve members: Jang Won-young, Sakura Miyawaki, Jo Yu-ri, Choi Ye-na, An Yu-jin, Nako Yabuki, Kwon Eun-bi, Kang Hye-won, Hitomi Honda, Kim Chae-won, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Chae-yeon. The group was managed by Off the Record and Swing Entertainment.
4. X1
The group was composed of eleven members: Kim Yo-han, Kim Woo-seok, Han Seung-woo, Song Hyeong-jun, Cho Seung-youn, Son Dong-pyo, Lee Han-gyul, Nam Do-hyon, Cha Jun-ho, Kang Min-hee and Lee Eun-sang. The group debuted on August 27, 2019 with the single "Flash" under Swing Entertainment and was co-managed by Stone Music Entertainment. The only produce group who get disbanded soon after their debut song.
5. J01
It is a Japanese boy band formed through the reality competition show Produce 101 Japan. The group consists of eleven members: Issei Mamehara, Ren Kawashiri, Takumi Kawanishi, Shosei Ohira, Shion Tsurubo, Ruki Shiroiwa, Keigo Sato, Syoya Kimata, Junki Kono, Sukai Kinjo, and Sho Yonashiro. Unlike other Produce 101 winning groups, JO1 is a permanent group. It is managed by Lapone Entertainment, a joint company between Yoshimoto Kogyo and CJ ENM.
That above are 5 winner groups who have a successful debut yet a tragic fate to be disbanded after their contract ended. Despite all the winner group, many trainees who failed to debut, is able to debut in their original group in their respective agency. They are:
