In the wake of the Atlanta shootings in which eight people, including six Asian women, were killed, a movement to protest hate crimes targeting Asians spreads. For short introduction for people who hasn't heard about it: On March 16, 2021, a series of mass shootings occurred at three spas or massage parlors in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It targets Asian.
Due to this issue, on the 19th, Eric Nam wrote on Time magazine's site, relentlessly pointing out the experiences of discrimination experienced by Asia-Pacific ( AAPI ) in the United States .
Eric Name, directly wrote as this:
“While the prosecution and police are still debating whether this case will be a hate crime, millions of Asian-Pacific people, including me, feel abandoned.” He said, “I am captivated by the fear of the future that I have to live with in my beloved country.”
Furthermore, not satisfying with it, He also pointed out:
"During the past 12 months, when attacks on the Asia-Pacific system have increased , our community's requests for help and warning signs seem to be dismissed as stories of people living on the other side of the world, not neighbors. In addition, Eric Nam, assuming no racial motive for this Atlanta firearms, is "totally naive and racist in itself." "Why should the women in our community be victims of your sex addiction?" How dare you” he criticized. “For many people living in Asia-Pacific is an experience suffering from anxiety, trauma, and identity crisis.”
