10 KPOP GROUPS WHO IS DISBANDED THIS YEAR, FROM DEATH TO RAPE AND ABUSE

The tight competition among KPop groups has made many KPop agencies have to work hard to promote their respective idols. Keep in mind, in average there are more than 10 idols group debuting each year. With many older generation idols who is still active nowadays, of course we can't avoid the fact that some smaller unpopular group will be disbanded. Many KPop groups had to be disbanded by the agency this year for various reasons. There are even those who their contract hasn't ended yet, but have to be disbanded because the lack of funding to keep the group stay alive. Here are the list of disbanded KPOP group of 2020:

1. KHAN 


The duo debuted with the single "I'm Your Girl?" on May 23, 2018. Unfortunately, hasn't gotten any success, KHAN was then confirmed to disband by Maroo Entertainment in October this year. Maroo then launched another new Kpop group this year.

2.Neon Punch

The group was formed in 2018 under A100 Entertainment. Due to lack of success and limited promotion, the group officially disbanded in August this year by his agency. Rookie girl group Neon Punch, who had multiple members in YG Entertainment's ill-fated survival program MIXNINE, have opened up about the controversial cancellation of the show's winning group. It seems her last chance to be an idols is not gonna work.

3. White Day 

The group was formed by WD Entertainment in June 2019. They were confirmed to disband in October this year

4. This KPop idol under J Planet Entertainment debuted in 2016 and they disbanded in October this year. Many people even din't know their name!


5.Yellow Bee 

The girl group is under Addiction Entertainment. They debuted in 2017 and disbanded last May 2020. On May 25, Addiction Entertainment notified fans that Yellow Bee would go on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that their upcoming single, originally scheduled for June would be postponed. Unfortunately, Yellow bee becomes another girl group which disbanded this year.

On July 12, Addiction Entertainment released a statement on their Instagram revealing that Yellow Bee had officially disbanded. Addiction Entertainment further stated, "But with member B carrying on her rather slutty lifestyle, plus the other members being unable to come to an agreement, we’ve decided that the group cannot stay together." The statement was highly controversial and criticized on several news outlets for 'slut shaming'. Addiction Entertainment later edited the Instagram post to remove certain information and was left at "personal issues and differences between the company and members" as a reason. Despite this, Addiction Entertainment later deleted all posts from their Instagram.

A week after their disbandment, former member Ari took to her own Instagram account on July 31 and revealed that the members were subject to neglect, exploitation, sexual harassment and sexual assault by the company staff

6. 1THE9

KPopers must be familiar with 1THE9. This boy group was obtained from the 2018 survival competition Under Nineteen and officially disbanded in August. The group was composed of 9 members.

7. X1 

It was formed through the survival Produce X 101 under the auspices of CJ E&M in 2019. Fans were surprised when they officially disbanded in January this year. K-pop boy band X1 have announced their disbandment after the revelation of a vote-rigging scandal involving the reality TV show that launched the group. It was caught like thunder, because not like any other group that is disbanded this year, X1 isn't disbanded because of lack popularity or success. The Kpop boy group is well love and received enough love by many people, outside and inside Korea. Their achievement in short time might envy a lot of Kpop groups. His first and last album sold more than 500.000 COPIES.

The members’ management companies including decided to break up X1 after failing to reach an agreement about the group’s future, a PR agency representing X1 said. Mnet’s operator, CJ ENM, made an official apology last week, saying it would support and compensate the affected contestants.

8. Initially Trei 

It was a duo in 2017 then in 2018 changed to a trio due to the addition of members. Officially disbanded in June 2020

9. Spectrum 

SPECTRUM (스펙트럼) consists of 7 members: Minjae, Dongkyu, Jaehan, Hwarang, Villain, Eunjun.  The group is officially disbanded in July 2020 due to COVID-19 after being formed in 2018.

Previously, before their disbandment, the group already loss one of the members, Dongyoon who passed away on July 27, 2018. A member of rookie K-pop boy band Spectrum, Kim Dong-yoon, dies on Friday at the age of 20. With the cause of death still unknown, many fans have begun speculating that the young rising star succumbed to overwork. Publicly, the young man showed no signs of illness and The 20-year-old had been active on social media up until the day before his death. Not only did he post pictures on the group's Instagram account but he also initiated a livestream broadcast to interact with fans.

The idol's representatives, Wynn Entertainment, announced the tragic news without revealing the cause of death, upsetting many fans who began speculating that the company had pushed Kim too hard. High stress and long work hours are common for South Korean entertainers. Kim's family have also found the lack of information unacceptable and are calling for a post-mortem examination. 

According to reports, the young 180-centimeter-tall entertainer weighed only 56 kilograms and he was busy preparing for some commercial events before his death. 


10. ANS (Angel N Soul) 

The group is officially disbanded in August 2020 after being formed in September 2019


11. NEW ENTRY! Gugudan

It might not come for a surprise for gugudan fans, as their last comeback is 2 years ago in 2018. Early this year, one of gugudan member, sally, herself hint about the possible dibandment, as she told fans that she got kicked out from gugudan dorm. It seems jelly fish didn’t extend gugudan dorm rent and make all the members homeless in early 2020. There is a lot of rumor too about the disharmony between members, as 2 members are post ioi member who have fame and more popular. 

A statement on Gugudan’s official fan site read: ‘This is Jellyfish Entertainment. First of all, we’d like to thank the fans for loving and supporting gugudan. We would like to give you our official position regarding their group activities. ‘All the members of gugudan have been working hard and receiving a lot of love since their debut, but after a long and in-depth discussion, we have decided they will officially end their group activities on December 31, 2020. ‘Although their group activities are over, we will do our best to provide full support for their individual activities such as music and acting. Thank you once again for your great support, and we sincerely apologise for the sudden news to the fans who love gugudan. ‘Lastly, please continue to show warm love and interest to the members who are about to make a fresh start. Thank you.’
