IDOLS or ACTORS WHO HAVE DISPUTED AGAINST FORMER MANAGEMENT
We know that sometimes an individual talents might have different point of view or interest with their respective agencies, in this case where legal discussion occur. The legal battle between two opposition can't be avoided where the discussion can't take place and both parties disagree with each other conditions. Here are some example of that occurence :
1. Kang daniel
Kang daniel's contract with his previous agency was sold to another third party, LM entertainment and it seems it's without Daniel's consent. With all unjustified contract, of couse Daniel's side might want to nullify the contract. There are bad rumors comes out, that it's because another offer from HK high profile auntie who seems close with daniel and shown together in several occasion with Daniel. Who tell the truth? well, After an exhausting legal battle between Kang and his former agency, LM Entertainment that lasted several months, the 22-year-old singer is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Kang launched a legal dispute when LM Entertainment allegedly tied the singer down to an unfair exclusive contract. He was formerly a member of the now-disbanded K-pop boy group, WANNA ONE and was set to make his solo debut this year. But it doesn't stop there because LM entertainment has filed another appeal over the latest court decision to reject the agency’s original appeal regarding its contract with Kang Daniel.
On July 17, LM Entertainment stated, “An appeal was submitted to the Seoul High Court this afternoon (July 17).”
Not only that, LM entertainment also hinder Kang Danel's debut and make him into the blacklist of any broadcasting company, including KBS, SBS and MBC. With this black listed, Daniel won't be appearing in any music program in South Korea and can only create a private events hold by the company and without much promotion. Will the fans keep being on Kang daniel side and give their loyalty to him and only him? Only time will tell.
2. Lee jong suk
The rising actors, Lee jongsuk, is a black horse for his previous small agency where the actor is successfully shown his great acting and laid several job as main lead. No wonder when Lee jong Suk's contract became expired and he decided not to renew it, the agency deny Lee jong suk's wish. The former agency took several approach to hinder Lee Jongsuk career, but they can't do it forever. Lee Jongsuk shown that he can stand alone fine as it is with the former agency's interference, and he sign under YG, after 2 years, he decide not to renew his contract with YG entertainment and try to make his own company. It's a happy ending for Lee jongsuk.
3. Han hyo joo
Actress Han Hyo Joo’s former manager was arrested under the charges of threatening the actress and her family.
Han Hyo Joo, who is currently signed under BH Entertainment along with other top actors including Lee Byung Hun and Go Soo, was signed under “P” agency before she made a name for herself. “P” agency is now non-existent, but “A,” who was Han Hyo Joo’s manager at the time, along with three accomplices contacted the actress’ father and demanded money and valuables saying they had “photos relating to her personal life.”
Once Han Hyo Joo’s father confirmed with the actress that she “did not do anything that would cause any problems,” he reported them to the police. The situation was clarified immediately, and the parties charged are currently in police custody. Contrary to what they claimed in their threat, police investigation revealed that they did not have any personal photos of Han Hyo Joo in their possession.
It is presumed the reason why Han Hyo Joo’s father was targeted for this scheme was due to the fact that Han Hyo Joo is a top actress famous for her pure and innocent image. Former manager “A” and his accomplices believed she and her father would fall for a threat relating to her personal life.
A representative of Han Hyo Joo’s agency stated, “As a person working in the entertainment industry, it is very disappointing to see that this type of offense took place. Even though Han Hyo Joo was blameless, these kinds of incidents can potentially ruin an actress’ image. However, she had a strong will to take immediate legal action.”
The police also made a statement saying, “There are instances where people target celebrities and demand things they usually wouldn’t from an ordinary citizen just for the sole reason that they are public figures. The charged parties targeted someone whose image may become damaged even if their threats were based on falsity. We plan to take action in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring.”

Another candidate comes from another wanna one member, and this time it is the Taiwanese member, Lai Guan lin. His father has requested contract termination from his company Cube Entertainment. Cube has acknowledged that they have received the certification of contents and will have a statement later. On Lai Guan lin side, his father mention health issues comes to mind for this legal battle. He said that it take a toll in Lai guan lin's health to go back and forth between South Korea and Taiwan for Guan lin's job. He also mention that Cube has failed to fulfill Guan Lin's need and didn't manage him well. While on Cube side, they said they have done their part and they will take legal battle for this issues. We will need to wait where this case will go.
5. The east light
On December 26 at 2 p.m. KST, Media Line Entertainment held a press conference to speak out against reports of abuse of The East Light members.
Recently, producer Moon Young Il was imprisoned for violence. Media Line Entertainment’s CEO Kim Chang Hwan had his case forwarded to the prosecutor’s office to be indicted, while president Lee Jung Hyun had his case forwarded with the suggestion of no indictments.
Kim Chang Hwan, Lee Jung Hyun, and former The East Light members Jung Sa Gang and Lee Eun Sung were in attendance at the press conference.
Kim Chang Hwan began, “For the past two months, we diligently participated in police investigations. However, I cannot get rid of the perception that the investigation is biased following public opinion due to the accuser’s one-sided press conference rather than the truth and essence of this incident. We will provide the exact grounds and explain the truth that haven’t been revealed to the media.”
Media Line president Lee Jung Hyun then continued, “Since the members started as trainees, producer Moon Young Il acted as the teacher exclusively for the members. At that time, the members understood that they will definitely receive physical punishment when being scolded for not following what they promised or did something wrong.”
Regarding Lee Seok Cheol’s statement that they were threatened to not tell their parents, Lee Jung Hyun said that their parents already knew. “After physically punishing them, producer Moon asked their parents to apply ointment for them, and he was in contact often with the father of Lee Seung Hyun, who caused lots of problems. After Lee Seung Hyun caused trouble by skipping a broadcast schedule on June 13, 2017, his father traveled up here quickly after being contacted by Lee Seok Cheol and discussed Lee Seung Hyun’s physical punishment with producer Moon Young Il.”
In the end, the CEO of the east light got a jail punishment and the contract of each East light member is terminated by the court.

6. ATEEN
ATEEN, a rookie group with 10 members has recently come out with news that they were sexually abused by their CEO and his wife. The group consists of: Jonathan, L.Y, Heyden, Kim-Chan, Segun, Ki-bin, Bill, King, Joel and Rookie. They are currently promoting in Japan, they made their debut in South Korea in January 2019.
