FUN FACT AND PROFILE OF MOONBYUL

MAMAMOO (마마무) consists of 4 members: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa.  MAMAMOO debuted in 2014, under RBW Entertainment . Moonbyul who is the main rapper of the group went to SM Academy when she was first year high school. Not only as rapper, most of her rap lines are written by herself, thus makes Moonbyul as the highest credited female artist on KOMCA from third generation with 61 official songs (and counting) under her name. She was accepted into Paekche Institute of the Arts for media music and vocals in 2011. Moonbyul almost debuted in D-Unit, a Korean pop/hip-hop/R&B group, but got cut due to her weight. Yes, she used to be chubby person.

Moonbyul although not being as too tall, becomes the tallest of all mamamoo members with height about 164 cm (5’4″). She was born in Bucheon, South Korea and has 2 younger sisters (Seulgi 1996, Yesol 2004). Her image is stand out among girl group as she isn't too feminine looking and received attention for resemblance to boy group idols such as BTOB’s Minhyuk and EXO’s Xiumin. 

She created the choreography for “Mr. Ambiguous”. And certified girl crush. She has a lot of harem for her, start from her most favorite unnie, Solar (Yong sun), then her members Wheein and Hwasa, also another girl group idols like  R ed velvet Seulgi, Soo A, Exid hani, Moon Hyuna, AOA Chanmi, Punch, and Lee da hee. Don't be surprised if the list keeps growing. She is close to Red Velvet‘s Seulgi and collaborated with her for a song called “Selfish.” Her ideal girl is fx Krystal. She, along with EXID‘s Hani, BTS‘ Jin, VIXX‘s Ken and B1A4‘s Sandeul, have a group chat for 92-liners.

When asked which member will she date, she choose wheein. She used to share a room with Whee In. (After the “Um Oh Ah Yeh” era all of them moved out and now have their own places.). Before joining RBW, Moonbyul and Wheein were in the same agency and almost debuted in a group where Moonbyul was the leader and Wheein was the maknae. The group only lasted for a week before they parted their ways. Moonbyul was, alongside other 6 female idols, in “Idol Drama Operation Team” tv program. They created a 7 members girl group, called Girls Next Door , which debuted on July 14, 2017. She owns a dog named Daebakie. Her nickname is “Black Hole” because she tends to sweat a lot.

Just like any other mamamoo members who crave having a tatoo in their body, except Solar, Moonbyul also have it. Her tattoo reads N’oublie pas de t’aimer. Translated, it has the meaning “Don’t forget to love yourself.” Moonbyul has voiced her struggles with her lack of confidence and insecurities as fitting in a group known for being a vocal powerhouse. She has since gained more confidence, especially with the help of her members. This tattoo symbolizes a more positive frame of mind. As for today, currently she have 4 tattoos.
