All It starts when there is a police hitting on a bar in Gangam district. This police man tried to investigate a bar because some report told that there is minor who partying on the VIP lounge of the Club, Burning Sun. The rich minor bribed the entrance guard for a VIP access up to 200 million won. Actually there is a lot of complain and report from people near the club (other business/store), asking for police investigation, suspected of criminal activities. After the police assault becomes big and exposed to media, there is a through out investigation to Burning sun, it was later found there is indeed illegal activities running inside this club, which own by "Mr Kang" and Seungri. MBC’s News Desk reported on claims that a man known as “Mr. Kim,” later named Kim Sang-kyo by the Korea Herald, was attacked at Burning Sun, a club where Seungri was on staff as the publicity director. Reports claimed that a woman nicknamed “Anna” was suspected of dealing drugs at Burning Sun
The club sets the scene for one of the most complex scandals to hit Korea, one that goes beyond the K-pop world. A few of the industry’s biggest names are involved, but the allegations span sexual assault, prostitution, drug distribution, hidden camera footage, tax evasion and police corruption. Let's focus on the hidden camera footage issues.

On the investigation, police found a group chat consist of several known name in Korean entertainment industry, practicing illegal activities, including: circulation of pornography content (videos), illegal hidden camera activities. A bulk of the evidence stems from leaked chatrooms from Korean app KakaoTalk. A technician reportedly discovered multiple chats on Jung Joon-young’s phone after the singer sent it in for repairs. But the scandal revolves around a core chat that involved eight members: Seungri, Jung, Choi Jonghoon, Yoo In Suk, Burning Sun employee named Mr. Kim, a relative of a popular girl group member (turn out to be SNSD's yuri brother, Kwon Hyuk Jun), a former YG Entertainment employee and a friend of Jung.

Dispatch revealed alleged chats among Burning Sun employees that revolved around discussion of date rape. Korean outlet SBS funE reported on a KakaoTalk group chat from December 2015 where Seungri allegedly planned to bribe investors with prostitutes. This scandal involving on members of group chat. Yuri Holdings, owner of Burning Sun, denied claims they sought prostitutes to bribe investors. YG Entertainment’s stock prices fell 4.95 percent in the wake of the controversies. 

JJY sent Highlight Junhyung a hidden camera footage and he 'participated in inappropriate conversations regarding "The sex chat". In the latest revelation, Jung, around end-2015, reportedly told his friend that he had sex with a woman. When his friend asked for a video clip as proof, Jung sent a three-second clip, according to SBS. In a separate incident, they laughed about how a girl JJY was filming during sex found the camera and made him delete the footage. Initially Junhyung completely denied ever being sent any footage or chatting about it with JJY and his agency backed him up. However, the police interviewed Junhyung and literally showed him the chat logs and so his lies were exposed. That's why his agency dumped him and Junhyung left Highlight.

On November 29, judge Kang Sung Soo of the Seoul Central District Court delivered the verdict against five individuals including Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon.

The courts have sentenced Jung Joon Young to six years in prison and Choi Jong Hoon to five years in prison, finding them guilty of sexually assaulting an individual who was incapable of resisting. They will also have to undergo 80 hours in a sexual violence rehabilitation program and will face restrictions of employment for five years in any organization related to children and teenagers. The prosecution request to put the five defendants under protective supervision was denied.

Five individuals including Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon were charged with aggravated rape in Gangwon Province in January 2016 and in Daegu in March 2016. They also faced charges of filming and spreading footage that was illegally taken during that time. Yuri's brother, Mr Kwon, sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Jung Joon Young and Jonghun gang-raped a drunk woman back in March 2016 in Daegu. While they were raping the victim, others filmed the scene and subsequently raped the victim afterward. In January 2016, Kwon Hyuk Jun raped a drunk woman who didn't even have a bladder control due to being heavily under the influence. He was sentenced to 3 years of probation after the jail time due to having a criminal record of a sex offender.

Jung Joon Young was also accused of distributing illegal footage on 11 different occasions, including sharing footage without consent of him having sex with women in a KakaoTalk chat room that other celebrities including former Big Bang member Seungri also participated in.


The prosecution had initially asked for seven years in prison for Jung Joon Young and five years for Choi Jong Hoon, as well as participation in a rehabilitation program for offenders and a ten-year restriction of employment in any organization related to children and teenagers.
