Another tragedy in kpop idols industry trigger warning

Former “Produce 101 Season 2” contestant Jeong Joong Ji has been revealed to have passed away. On September 20, someone claiming to be Jeong Joong Ji’s mother took to Twitter to share the tragic news of his passing. “My son Joong Ji made the choice to end his life,”

Jung Joong Ji is from 'Produce 101' season 2, before he confessed he was bullied by Wanna One's Yoon Ji Sung during the show. It all started with a netizen's post in the summer. The netizen claimed s/he met Jung Joong Ji at a church in Gwangju and the trainee talked bad about fellow contestant Yoon Ji Sung, saying Yoon Ji Sung is a bully who frequently discouraged him.

Yet, people didn’t believe him at all and the bully keeps getting popular. He later went into army to keep the rumor down. However even being accused as a bully, Yoon Ji Sung wasn't the one who received criticism for allegedly being a bully. The hate actually went towards Jung Joong Ji. Netizens pointed out how Jung Joong Ji was being "fake" by posting a selca taken with Yoon Ji Sung while talking bad about him behind his back.

When Wanna One's debuted and Yoon Ji Sung's rise in popularity, the issue came to attention again. Many fans demanded feedback from Jung Joong Ji and asked him to explain the situation himself. The trainee in fact did. On November 2, Jung Joong Ji posted a lengthy message on Instagram, explaining the "truth" behind the issue. He stated, "You asked for feedback. I wasn't going to but here it is. There was a time we ate together for the first time during 'Produce 101 season 2'. There, Yoon Ji Sung hyung suddenly called me over and said, 'You have a lot of followers on Facebook. You should make money with that. Why the hell are you here?' So I replied, 'I'm sorry, hyung.' After that, he kept bothering me about 10 times so I told him that he's really making it hard for me and to stop bullying me. He smiled and said 'okay', and then told me three trainees in his agency had left because of him. Then on the day when we had the level test, I only slept for an hour due to ongoing practice and messed up almost entirely during the actual test so I was sitting down with a frown on my face, and he came over and teasingly said, 'You just did your worth.' I was so startled and in disbelief (at his rudeness) so I talked back to him. But after some time, we made up and that's why I uploaded the photo.

Now his threat to suicide turns as reality.

On his last message he wrote. “I don’t know how to put my feelings right now into words.” According to Jeong Joong Ji’s mother, her son took his own life on September 9. Jeong Joong Ji first entered the spotlight as a contestant on Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2” in 2017. The singer was 30 years old (by international reckoning) at the time of his passing. We offer our deepest condolences to Jeong Joong Ji’s friends and family during this painful time. May he rest in peace.
