Twenty-Five Twenty-One received criticism like korean drama goblin

Well, although many international viewers does not have concern regarding the romance that builds between the main lead who have 4 years of age gaps, it seems it becomes some issues for South Korea viewers.

The drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One is about two people who first met when they were 22 and 18 years old and started their love story four years later when they were 25 and 21 years old. This drama depicts youth about romance, growth, and friendship.

Kim Tae Ri plays the character Na Hee Do, who becomes a professional fencer and joins the national fencing team after experiencing the struggles of disbanding his high school team due to the IMF financial crisis. He is a passionate and courageous character who doesn't give up.

Nam Joo Hyuk take on the role of reporter Baek Yi Jin, the eldest son of a family torn apart due to the IMF financial crisis. She delivers newspapers and works part-time at a book-rental shop to help keep her alive.

Many viewers expressed their concerns and criticisms regarding the media publicly romanticizing a relationship with a minor. Viewers expressed, "The production team should have reconsidered the scene as the media has an impact.", "I feel uncomfortable depicting a mutual love with a minor who still wears a school uniform.", "Why couldn't the show wait until after Kim Tae Ri graduates for a scene like this?"

We already know that in reality, kim tae ri is 4 years older than nam joo hyuk. And not like goblin where some viewers have issues regarding the age of the actors, I think the scandal is less impactful.

Although both drama has been criticized for showing a romance between female students and some male adult, but we need to remember that nam joo hyuk’s character is actually a high school graduate. He might be an adult as he already work, but he could be a university student if his financial status doesn’t force him to get a job. And it isn’t like Nam Joo hyuk has an upper hand for being a teacher or his boss to push kim tae ri ( na hee do) for romantic relationship.
