KPOP GROUP THAT YOU WILL MISS THIS YEAR (DISBANDED) 2016-7 EDITION [PART 1]
Some people said that the ending of each "long-time"contract (no joke here, it can be up to 11 years before TVXQ legal battle with SM entertainment now it's about 5-7 years) in Korean entertainment industry can lead one group into disbandment. Many group is disbanded after the members contracts are expired, because they don't want to continue to work within the same agency. Sometimes, they're just disbanded because they're not popular or profitable enough.
Below is several KPOP groups that we will miss this year:
1. Wonder Girls
On January 26, JYP Entertainment officially announced the disbandment of Wonder Girls. Yubin and Lim have renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment. While Yenny and Sunmi will, unfortunately, be leaving the label, as they wished to walk new path outside JYP.
2. 2ne1
2NE1’s exclusive contract expired in May 2016, and with Minzy leaving 2NE1, YG has come to the decision to officially disband 2NE1 after extensive discussion with the remaining members. YG resigned with CL and Sandara Park. However, unfortunately, there is no new contract with Park Bom yet.
3. KARA
After it was revealed earlier this Jan 2016 that members Goo Hara, Han Seungyeon, and Park Gyuri have been looking into joining new agencies after their contracts expire,Girl group KARA has officially disbanded. With time still left on her contract, Heo Youngji will remain under DSP Media as a solo artist.
4. 4 Minutes
The girls' contracts with Cube Entertainment is coming to an end and after long consideration, the girls and the label, Cube enterteainment, have decided to disband the group. So far, only HyunA has re-signed with Cube Entertainment.
5. Rainbow
DSP Media has released its official statement regarding Rainbow’s future.
On the morning of October 28 KST, the agency that produced the K-pop girl group confirmed through an official statement, after reports of the members not renewing their contracts surfaced, that “although we discussed with Rainbow members Kim Jaekyung, Go Woori, Kim Jisook, Noel, Oh Seungah, Jung Yoonhye, and Jo Hyunyoung about their future, they have decided to go their separate ways.” It revealed that the members’ contracts with the agency will end November 12, 2016.
6. BEAST
BEAST’s contract with its label, Cube Entertainment, is set to end in October 2016, but there has been no contract renewal yet coming from BEAST members except from Hyun seung. According to a local news source, It is speculated that BEAST plan to set up their own agency with remaining members.
