MORE INFORMATION REGARDING RED VELVET WENDY GAYO INCIDENT

It has been previously reported that Red Velvet's Wendy had fallen during SBS Gayo Daejeon show and received several serious injuries, that might change her future career as an Idol. Since the incident, she has been resting and recovering at Seoul hospital while awaiting further evaluation of her injuries. The bruise are so severe that it takes time for doctor to examine correctly the severity level. On 25th of December, Dispatch met with the field staff who was present during the incident at the SBS year end festival. According to hospital staff, the swelling at the injury site is so severe that even an accurate diagnosis cannot be made at this time.

The staff member stated, " on the 25th Dec, Wendy went to her first rehearsal at 11:00 am (KST) to the main stage, the 'Aladdin' OST 'Speechless' sound test and sound check.Wendy climbed to the second-floor tunnel, as planned. She was prepared to go down the stairs during the song just like SBS staff told her. But the stairs were not set in place yet. For that reason, she lost her balance and fell down the stage up to 2.5 meters high. The second-floor tunnel was dark and narrow. The common (fluorescent) marking was not visible and that was how she fell in such a defenseless state. Wendy did not get to show a pre-recorded performance or a live performance."

The staff member added, "Several groups went up to the tunnel on the second floor too as it is one of the entrance door. After Wendy's accident, the news of the incident had spread and other groups were all performing with heightened anxiety."

Dispatch noted that Wendy will likely be suffering at least six weeks in hospital for recovery time. Her right pelvis and wrist were broken, and her right cheekbone was cracked. She also has a number of bruises all over her body and face. Most likely, it will take several months to fully recover and back to be able to move again. So, SM and red velvet are focusing on Wendy recovery until they can make a proper diagnosis and recovery plan. All Redvelvet schedule and promotion of their new comeback song "Psycho" are now cancelled.

On December 26, SBS releases another apology towards Wendy and announced that they have started internal investigation to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Due to many criticism from fans and industry professional, after previous apology, SBS tried to make it right and releasing another apology.

“We would like to apologize again regarding the incident of 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon. During the rehearsal for Year end festival, an unfortunate accident happened. SBS would like to once again sincerely apologize to Wendy’s family, Red Velvet members, all the fans, as well as the injured Wendy.

As Wendy’s recovery is the priority, the director of SBS’s entertainment division and the production staff are doing their best to ensure proper medical treatment while working closely with her agency, SM Entertainment.

The staff rush Wendy to the hospital for a thorough examination and called for emergency services right away. Currently, SBS has begun an internal investigation to uncover the details about the accident and we will take more caution in order to prevent similar accidents from occurring again in the future. Once again, we would like to sincerely apologize to Red Velvet’s Wendy and her family."

Even with this apology, many redvelvet fans still ask SM entertainment to sue SBS, because the incident destroy Redvelvet come back plan and other schedules.
