Let me tell you my story for following KPOP

Well, first every kind of group that you stand, either it's a boy group or girl group,  they will come to an end with words of "disbandment", if you're lucky, if not, the members will go separate way without any official statement. Anyway, you can feel that they will be disbanded soon if they don't make any comeback or other activities within 2.5 years. The longest time a group might survive is (until now) about 10 years for both Boys and girls group (eg. Girls generation), although they might have a reunion in a decade to feel back their old glory and they might be successful for some times (1-2 years).

Second, The group's name will become a brand that their agency is proud of and will monetize its as much as they could. Many big agency will create copyright for the names and own it as their intellectual property, not even the members could or might use it for their own profits. The members might fight about it, but rarely succeed to use their group name as their own when they're no longer under any contract.
Third, being a multi stan is fine, it will give you more variation and extend your personal preference. With more and more quality group is debuting, it's rational if you might get hook with some of its. Yet it might not be good for your pocket, since every group you stan will release an album/single or even merchandise, and you wouldn't know which one to prioritize, because you're simply like them all.

Fourth, kpop industry has a dual standard, or even more. What I mean is sometimes there is no justify reason for anything in this industry. My opinion, I think girl group take all things harder than boy group, in a sense if a female idols do something "controversial" like a male idol did, maybe only the female idols that get the criticism or bad/harsh comments. Many female fans might give more lenient toward boy groups and support them blindly. Welcome to the tea party!

Fifth, many new generation idols is targeting to wider audience, their goals now are to become a global group, just like BTS, or Girls Generation or 2ne1. Some group has bigger chance to succeed in the US because they appeal more, eg. Blackpink, or ikon. Some might find huge success in other continent like in China for EXO or japan for TVXQ. I kinda appreciate a black horse like BTS and mamamoo who paves away their own career without a big name agency.

Sixth, in kpop, bonding is superior, yet it seems not any members can get along with each other that well. In average, the contract length for one group member is 7 years and will get extended if they're successful later with additional 2 years per contract. After the disbandment or let say the expired contract, the members begin to show their true color and act more freely, showing whether they're indeed close with other members or it isn't actually just for work. If they're indeed close with each other, even without being in the same group, they will meet or still hang out together in special occasion, or even have collaboration and give congrats to each other solo achievement.

Seventh, even they looks innocent, I believe most of them are dating with someone if not each other, and this is actually good (not bad at all), yet they hide it so it won't effect their careers. Most agency have a dating ban for 1-2 year after debut.
